Designate a place in your house, where you would place a recumbent stationery bike. Decide before, whether you would want an upright stationary bike, semi recumbent bike or a recumbent stationary bike. Read the stationary bike reviews in various magazines as well as n the websites on the Internet.
After your decision to purchase a stationary cycle, make sure that the area that you have chosen has ample space for you to climb up and down from the cycle. Otherwise you may hurt yourself while mounting and dismounting the cycle. The area should be a flat and a slip proof surface. There should also be good ventilation and lighting in that area to prevent suffocation and stuffiness. Read the instruction manual carefully before you assemble the bike. It’s important for your safety.
Next adjust your seat. The seat should be adjusted in a way that your legs can easily reach the paddle. If the seat is too high, then your feet will not reach the paddle, if the seat is too low, you would not be able to cycle effectively. The saddle should be parallel to the floor. If the saddle were pointed up, there would be too much pressure on the groin area. If it were pointing downwards, pressure would be put on your arms.
Handlebars should also be effectively positioned. As wrongly positioned handlebars can put excessive pressure on the lower back and the seat. Hence you can feel discomfort. To make cycling a more pleasurable experience, adjust the seat and the handlebars in the correct position. This will also reap you rich rewards.
Stationary bikes, whether upright or recumbent, are a great way to exercise. You can use them at your local gym or at home.
